Breastmilk Keepsakes Q&A
Posted by kerry dibble on
Breastmilk keepsakes are still quite a new idea, and people often have a lot of questions. So let's see if I can answer them for you, and help you choose the perfect way to commemorate your breastfeeding journey.
Q: Does the milk go off?
A: No, it is fully preserved before making your keepsake.
Q: Does the jewellery smell like milk?
A: No, the preserved powder does not smell, and it is fully encased in resin anyway.
Q: Can you use frozen milk?
A: Yes! Previously frozen or fresh is perfectly fine.
Q: Can you use spoiled milk?
A: Yes, although not if it is mouldy or discoloured. Sour is fine.
Q: How much milk do you need?
A: Only 5ml!
Q: What if I don't wear jewellery?
A: With a baby, I don't blame you! That is why I make a variety of non jewellery breastmilk items too including keychains and a range or ornaments.
Q: How do I order?
A: Just check out the breastmilk section of my website and choose the item/s you'd like. Then you can either add on a collection kit for the milk (in which case I'll send you everything you need) or you can decide to use your own packaging and I will email you the address to send it to once your order is placed.
Q: What if I live outside of the UK?
A: I will soon be adding in an overseas option, where I'll send you everything you need to preserve the milk yourself. You can send this to me in it's preserved, dried form for me to then make your keepsake. Just drop me a message to discuss this option.
Q: How long does it take?
A: Collection kits are sent out within 3 working days. Once the milk is with me I'll have your keepsake ready in 1-2wks depending on the design. Full size pyramids may take a little longer.
Any more questions just drop me an email :)
