So, does that mean you're straight now??

Posted by kerry dibble on

I am a cis woman, in a long term monogamous relationship with a cis male. Does that mean I'm straight?

In short, no. Growing up I always thought of myself as being bisexual, or at least as soon as I realised that was a thing it made sense of how I felt. Then many years later I discovered the term pansexual, and that made even more sense to me. Gender is simply irrelevant to me when it comes to choosing a sexual partner. Does that truth go away just because I am currently with a man? No. I'm just a pansexual brain contentedly inhabiting a straight woman's body for the forseeable future.

February is LGBT+ History month. I am fortunate, I suppose, that my alternative sexuality does not represent in such a way to cause disruption to my life. I have never really suffered any stigma because of it. However, for a lot of queer folk that has not been, and is still not the case. So this post is for them. For you. No matter what gender or sexuality you are, no matter the colour of your skin or your neurodivergence, or your age, body type or disability. YOU are welcome here.

*WAVES* :)

PS: As some of you may know I donate to a different charity each month based on how many new email subscribers I get. February will be a LGBTQA related charity. Feel free to drop your suggestions in the comments, and you can become a subscriber yourself here:
